Dr. Jennifer Parker, United Kingdom # 87,542

"I feel passionately about this issue. It is time to stop barbaric practises against animals. I hope you make this happen in Europe. Please exclude Owen Patterson (UK) from any consideration. He has massacred the UK animals.."

Mr. Chris Jackson, United Kingdom # 87,567

"This is a definite need for Europe. The greens semi promised intervention - but have not really succeeded. Must be a Directorate-General - with the ability to implement required changes for matters concerning animal welfare. Must have legislative ability to withstand - and over-rule pharmaceutical giants, agricultural lobbies, religious interests, "cultural entertainment", meat industry practices - and all "industries" who profit from exploitation of animals. First off must be the elimination of the word "goods" when applied to animals. The Directorate would require a branch for immediate, real time powers of intervention/action - bypassing EU bureaucracies. Creation of a Directorate-General for animal welfare would be giant leap forward."

Ms. Martine Barnard-Delaroche, France # 87,164
"All animals are sentient beings and must be protected by law. All animal abuse in any area (pets, farming, zoos, etc, etc.) must be severely punished. Some of the cruelty and abuse going on in certain member states is disgusting and unworthy of civilized society. Please act now to protect all animals!"

There is so much indifference in this world. How can anyone pass by à stray animal and not ask himself/ herself if this poor creature is hungry/thirsty/sick? Animals are helpless in the world of people and they need the voice to be heard!

"If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion & pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men" - ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI;

"I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs. (They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility we have no rights to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty...." - JAMES HARRIOT.

Two quotes with which friends of the animals will be familiar, and which are so true.

Good Luck Lawyers for Animals. You are on the good side. I am not able to do much in the way of action, but "to hold a pen is to be at war". May all go well for your goodselves and animals everywhere.
